Absorption Chiller Working Principle
Introduction
An absorption chiller uses heat to drive a refrigeration cycle, offering an alternative to traditional vapor compression chillers.
Working Principle
Explanation of the absorption refrigeration cycle:
- Absorption: Absorbent (usually lithium bromide) absorbs refrigerant (water vapor).
- Desorption: Heat source (hot water or steam) releases refrigerant vapor from absorbent.
- Condensation: Refrigerant vapor condenses into liquid in the condenser.
- Evaporation: Liquid refrigerant evaporates, absorbing heat from the chilled water loop.
